Addyson's Birth Story

On 12/21 at 11:30 am I had a midwife appointment. I was 8 days overdue. My midwife talked to me about the risks of staying pregnant. She let me know that everyday I go over I have a higher risk for a stillborn birth, because the placenta stops working. Also the baby can gain a pound a week, and so I could have a really big baby if I continued to wait. She didn't pressure me one way or another, but she let me know that if she didn't break my water that day that she wanted me to come in on the 22nd to get started. If I would have fought her she would have let me wait it out, but I really didn't want a Christmas baby, or to be in the hospital on Christmas. So I agreed to have my water broken.

The midwife striped my membrains before sending me to the hospital. She told me it would take a while for me to get checked in and such, and that if I could get contractions going on my own it would be better. I was already dilated to a 4.

We went up to the hospital where they questioned me and I waited until the midwife got to the hospital. She broke my water around 2:45 pm, and told me that it would take 3-5 hours before labor actually started. If I didn't go into labor on my own by 5 hours she would put me on pit.

Basically I walked around the hospital for about 5 hours, every hour I had to get hooked up to the monitor so it could say I was having contractions every 10 minutes. Nothing was really happening...except that I was starving, and tired, and grouchy!

When I would walk around the hospital I would have 1 minute contractions every 4 minutes, but the second I sat down, they stopped.

Finally, I started getting kinda regular contractions so at 7 they checked me again and I was to a five. By nine I was at a six. This was going way more slowly than I had hoped. I was doing great breathing through contractions. In fact they were not that painful. I didn't have back labor at all, so it was a completely different experience than I had with Drake. I felt controlled and great actually. I got in and out of the tub a lot during that two hours. Every hour I still had to be monitored. I also enjoyed the birth ball. I felt in control.

Around 9 when I was at a six, I decided that they should call the midwife because my contractions were getting harder. She was a great help. She taught Kade some counter pressure and he was a very helpful coach. I let him help me this time around and I felt like I was really nice, and not at all grouchy toward anyone.

This is kinda random, but it was what made me so angry. There was another one of my midwifes patients in the room next door. She was 9 days overdue and was scheduled to get started the following morning. She came in when I was at a six and stayed neck in neck with me except that she had her baby an hour earlier at 12:05. I was so upset that she came in and had her baby in 3 hours, and I had been there all day! I was tired and been there for hours and she came in and popped it right out!

Around 11:30 I started to get discouraged. I got an IV medication to help me calm down. By 12am I was dilated to an 8 and was in super hard labor. It was way painful and I knew I couldn't go much longer. I was complaining about not being able to go on. I kept saying "I can't do this", "make it stop", things like that. My midwife promised me I was almost done. I was tired and irritable and past the point of no return. I wanted to give up. I told my midwife that I think I should just have an epidural, she asked me if that's what I really wanted, I told her no...she just smiled.

The midwife kept telling me I was going to be able to push soon. at 12:45 the midwife promised me I only had 30 minutes to go. I didn't believe her. I was only at an eight, I had no urge to push, my contractions where 4 mins apart, and I was worried I would be stuck with this pain forever. At this point I was in bed, refusing to go on the birth ball, or in the tub, because I just was to tired to move.

Time passed, more terrible contractions. I then told my husband and midwife I had to go to the bathroom. I hadn't had the uge to push yet, and my contractions were still 4-5 min apart. I tried to go to the bathroom but I couldn’t and I started to contract so I stood up and grabbed on to the toilet bar thing and bent my knees squatting in a position trying to make the contraction less painful.

All of a sudden I needed to push. I told my husband who was standing next to me that I could feel the baby, my midwife was encouraging me to push, but I could feel my little girls head. I said, I am going to have this baby on the bathroom floor, I'm going to drop her on her head. My husband said it was sooo cool all of a sudden a baby's head emerged. So they grabbed some gloves and I was kinda in a squat position and I pushed a couple of times and she was born. 1:06 am. …I cant believe I had her in the bathroom. There was blood and mess everywhere. My husband said it looked like carnage, I was so shaky I thought I was going to fall to the ground. I kept a hold of the bathroom bar and turned my head to see my husband cut the umbilical cord. She was white and wouldn't cry very loud so I was so worried...then she let out a cry and I was excited. Then I had them haul me back to bed because otherwise I would have dropped to the ground. She was 8#110z 21 inches long a big baby. I was surprised she was bigger than Drake.

The afterbirth was painful, and I was glad when I was done with that. They didn't have to stitch me up! That has been awesome. I can sit normally!

A long story, with an exciting ending. I still can't get it out of my head that I had her in the bathroom. It was unexpected and I had the baby 20 minutes later instead of 30 like my midwife promised me.

I loved my midwife and will definitely use her again, or recommend her to anyone. She is willing to do it your way if she can make it happen.

I love Addyson, she is a doll, and loves to eat. If she is awake she is eating. She wanted to eat right after she was born. Which made nursing super easy with her because she actually wanted to eat instead of sleep all the time. When we went into her 5 day check up she weighed 9# 4 oz. When we left the hospital on the 23rd she was 8# 7oz so she almost gained a whole pound in a few days...that is how much she loves to eat.

I am excited to be Addyson's mom and get to know her and take care of her. Sorry this was so long...didn't want to forget anything.

End of the 9 months DUE DATE!!! Hospital pictures I forgot to post!

8 days post due, midwife said it would be a good idea to get started.  HECK, I have school starting in a few weeks, I want to spend as much time with her as I can.  LETS DO IT!

Well this is my last belly shot before the little one arrived!

IV in, waiting for my midwife to come break my water

When we showed up to the hospital I had been walking around at a 3 without signs of labor!

LONG WAIT...

Right after the midwife saved her from almost hitting the floor :D She is a perfect little thing
Terrible picture, only one I have though.  This is right after I got back into bed, and they handed her to me...I was in a little bit of pain.
I look a little pissed...but I was really happy

My mommy

Grandpa Kunz already trying to poke her! :D

Grandpa Bingham

Grandma Bingham

Grandma Bingham, Kaden, and Jamie
Kaden was really cute, he always wants to hold baby!

Morning two at the hospital.  Comparing babies...pretty much the same size 6 week difference.
And REALLY chubby looking me in the background...eww

As we were taking pictures the pediatrician walked in and said, "Oh, I must have the wrong room, I wasn't looking for twins".  HAHA

Daddy and Addy

Hush little baby!

Already calmed by her mama...she knows where she gets her food.  She is the hungriest baby I have ever seen, always looking for a nipple :D

All packed up in the car seat!
Kade kind of rushed us out of the hospital, we stayed one night.  I was comfy but he was ready to go and the midwife gave us the okay to leave the day I delivered because I had no stitches.  Never knew Kade hated the hospital so much haha

Miss Addyson's Birth Day!

Yay, we just had our little girl. She was over a week late, but hey, she is here. We decided to name her Addyson Bingham. She is darling, looks tonz like Drake, but with big lips. She was a chunk weighing 8#'s 11oz. She was 21 Inches. Born on 12/22/11 at 1:06am.

She is amazing and we love her already. I will post more pictures when I get more. Right now I am trying to sleep, but too endorphined up.

We are all doing great.

9th Month

This last month was so hard for me to want to take pictures.  I didn't get anything done in these last weeks of pregnancy.  I did sleep though.  I am not one of those people who have a hard time sleeping when I am tired, no matter how fat I am or how many toes are in my ribs.

So, yea....not great pictures.  They were really slim pickings, but whatever...I have a belly...
36ish weeks
LOL embarrassing I know, I was flirting with the camera man haha.
Can't hardly tell I'm prego from the back

Past Due

This is the second time this has happened. I am over due again! What a waiting game. Yesterday, I went to the midwife and everything looks good. I am measuring less than before, 36 weeks because she has dropped so low. I am dilated to a 3. No news other than that.

I am so glad I decided to use a midwife. Even though I am overdue she wont make me get started unless it becomes unsafe for the baby. My last Dr. wouldn't have let me go more that 10 days overdue and then he would have started me. Next Wednesday, if I haven't had her she will do an ultrasound to check the baby and the fluid. Unless things look bad, I will continue to wait until little girl comes. I just rather the baby choose when she comes, it is an easier labor and delivery for both of us.

I am done with school for the semester. I didn't do as well as I had hoped. I think instead of straight A's it will be more along the lines of B's. That is okay, at least I didn't fail any classes, plus I have to remind myself that I was pregnant, holding a job, while being a mom. I have about a month before next semester starts, I am excited for a fresh semester to start over.

Kade has been busy this week with work. He is doing REO work again, where he cleans out homes that are foreclosed, he really loves that job.

We have a Christmas tree thanks to Shyla and Tony, but it is still on our front porch. I can't seem to find the energy to decorate it...and there are only 10 days till Christmas.

I just keep hoping for a baby to come.

Breech Baby Update

For some reason in my silly mind I thought I had blogged about this and told everyone what was going on. Goodness this pregnancy brain is really getting to me.

On Wednesday I went to see the midwife and the baby turned! YAY! I get to go along with my pregnancy as normal, and she will make an appearance when she decides to. My midwife checked me to make sure the baby's head was engaged. I am dilated to a three, which means nothing LOL. But at least I don't have to do as much work once labor sets in.

ANYWAY. All that worry for nothing. I am glad that I will be able to have the baby as naturally as I can.

Breech Baby

I am now going to the midwife every week. With Thanksgiving last week, I didn't make it into see her. Two weeks ago baby was head down but her head wasn't engaged. Today when we went in baby had flipped and she is butt down. My midwife seemed really relaxed about it, but I am terrified about the whole thing. Pretty much, I will go in next week, if the baby is flipped I get to go along with my pregnancy. If the baby is still breech, they are going to schedule me to have her flipped (inversion) and will then start me right after. If I end up going into labor before next week, I will be the lucky winner of a c-section.

Good news, they did an ultrasound to confirm where the baby was positioned, I have a great water level. This means she has a lot of water to move around. If she doesn't go head down by herself then it will be very easy to turn her. If they do turn her there is a 50 percent chance she wont stay head down, so I may end up having a c-section even if they flip her and start me.

I am okay with whatever happens as long as it is safe for that little Bingham baby. I am not thrilled with 2 of the three scenarios, but if she is stubborn and wont flip I really won't have much of a choice. I know things will work out the way they should, but I am scared!

Thanksgiving and a small update

I am very grateful for the amazing blessings I have. I am truly blessed with more than I can appreciate. The other day I was worried about finances. You know, with the holidays already here, it gets expensive. Kade helped me remember what is really important and how much we already have. Kade told me "Stephanie, we have everything we need, we have each other, our cute little boy, and this perfect little one on the way." Food is nice, a home is great, but I could not possibly live without my family. I am a really lucky girl, my father in heaven is very gracious.

We were able to spend yesterday with the Bingham side of the family. Adam, Kade's brother that we hardly see, came down from med school. It was great to visit with the family, especially those you don't see very often.

On another note, yesterday I tried to dress my family to match one another so we could take family pictures before I pop. I was pleased with the way they turned out. I didn't get as many as I would have liked, but that is okay, our family will need an updated picture soon. ;D

This is a good one of my profile. Getting big 37 weeks.

This is a pretty good one, you can't see my prego belly.

Grumpy Drake

A cute one of Kade and me

Drake wouldn't look

My favorite

Drake has grown so much. He has been sick for three or four days now. We went into the Dr. the day before thanksgiving. He weighs 18 lbs 15 oz. he is really getting heavy. Poor boy has another ear infection.

I had a midwife appointment last week. Nothing new has changed except my weight. I was checked for group B strep, everything looks good. It is now a waiting game, of about 3 more weeks.

A Quick Catch Up

HA! I have less then thirty days to go before baby number two is here.

So much has happened and I really cannot keep up. In fact I should be doing homework but just can't stand to think about it right now.

I feel like a chicken with my head cut off, just running around in no real direction! I have an appointment with my midwife this Thursday, not excited. I am getting checked for group B strep.

I am excited for classes to be done this week, then I have a week and a half of freedom! YAY!

I am starting to hate school. I am getting so it is so uncomfortable to sit in a chair during class. Plus my belly pushes me so far back in the chair that I can hardly write notes. Yes, even the tall girls tend to get uncomfortable. I want my girl to be healthy so she can stay in there longer I guess, but I am still anxious to see her.

Kade has a job interview with the airport on Wednesday, I am hoping it goes well.

My husband is so sweet. When I got done with work Saturday I came out to my car to find these.
And he wrote me a love note :D

He is always so sweet, leaving me presents and doing things I don't want to. I love you Kade. I told him that he should have waited a week for our anniversary, but he told me he wanted to surprise me.

Brad and Nikki, the couple that lived with us for over 8 months had their baby on 11/11/11. I have never been more baby hungry in my life then when I held their little Braelie. It just made me realize that I still have a whole month left, and it really isn't fair.

Anyway, can't think of anything else right now. I know I should have a 30 week pic up, but I am getting lazy here at the end. So you will have to see me at 36 weeks. Then 40 if I make it that far.

8th Month

Okay so I am so far behind on blogging. I cannot keep up with everything it seems.

This is a picture around 33 weeks. I am toward the middle of my eight month. Getting bigger! I have gained around 16 pounds now and it is all in my face.

Every time I go to a midwife appointment things look really good. She is measuring right on size, some weeks she is a week smaller but most of the time she is right on.

I have had some problems with being sick in the last of this pregnancy. I have horrible stomach problems if I eat anything greasy, my stomach gets upset and I get pretty sick. So I can't have much of anything I like...darn Pizza Hut is always tempting me :D

7th Month

I am now seeing the midwife every other week. That means my pregnancy is coming to an end. I have been in my third trimester for a little over a week.

I had my glucose test today. To pass the test and not have to retake the overly sugary drink, your levels have to be 140 or below. My glucose level was at 90, so there are no problems there! They also did an iron test to check my levels, and they want them to be at least 12 and mine are at a 12.5, so I also have good iron levels it looks like.

I am now 29 weeks, when she measured my tummy I was measuring at 28 weeks. Either the baby is small, or I will have her a little later. I really wish my due date wouldn't move back and forth on me so much. But if she comes late that is okay with me, that way labor and delivery wont interfere with finals.

Total weight gain as of now is 10 pounds. The pounds are starting to pile on faster now that I am getting closer to the due date.

6th Month

25 weeks

This month has gone by fast, I am actually almost done with my sixth month! I have another OB appointment here in a few days.

Drake had a 9 month check-up this morning. Other than a small ear infection he is doing great! His development is right on track.

He weighs 17 pounds 13 oz, he is 27 1/4th inches long, and his head measures 17 3/4ths inches. He is around the 15th percentile for his weight.

He walks between furniture, and is so close to walking. He just needs to decide he wants to walk and he will be running around on his two little legs in no time.

I have been very busy with school, work, and being a mom. No time for anything else it seems.
